I had one of the best days on the water this year on Sunday. I got down to Hayling at about 1.00ish to find a decent F4 and a glittering sea with turquoise water on the inside. It looked just like Dahab! I rigged Ed's 6.5 YES sail which he had kindly lent me, as I'd managed to snap 2 battens in my 7.0 the day before in the high tide shore dump at camber (I didn't even get out that day - just bust my sail!). Anyway, had a great hour or so blasting around until just as I was waterstarting I heard a loud bang like a gunshot. I couldn't work out where it came from until suddenly I noticed a 1ft long hole in the bottom panel of the sail! Argh! Sorry Ed!! I don't know quite why it burst - nothing was even in contact with it! So, changed down to my 5.8 Storm and went back out. By then the wind had picked up to a F5 and I was well powered. I had another couple of hours of fantastic blasting, and lots of involuntary chop hops, and the sea was like an egg box further out. Had a wicked sail. My mate Julian who's an early intermediate and had never sailed at Hayling before made loads of progress and was impressed with the place. Think it's given him some much needed enthusiasm...
